Cunard celebrates its 180th Anniversary on 4 July 2020 – bringing people together for 180 years.
On 4 July 1840, Cunard’s first ship, Britannia, embarked on her first Transatlantic Crossing, which marks Cunard’s official anniversary, changing the face of ocean travel forever! Britannia established the first service across the Atlantic and would arrive in America 14 days later with the freshest news and to return back home with the same! Although it took 2 weeks, this service was lightning fast by the standard of the day!
Cunard ships have crossed and re-crossed the Atlantic in every one of those 180 years, in peace and in war, without fail! Since then, 248 ships have sailed under the Cunard flag.
